Common questions

Which rent law applies to my tenancy?
It depends on where the property is. Rent law is provincial, and Islamabad has its own federal law: in Punjab the Rented Premises Act, 2009, in Sindh the Rented Premises Ordinance, 1979, and in Islamabad the Rent Restriction Ordinance, 2001. For Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, check the provincial law portal for the law that applies.
Where do I challenge illegal possession of my land?
Under the Illegal Dispossession Act, 2005 a complaint is made to the Court of Session, which must decide the case within sixty days. A civil suit for possession is the alternative.
