Nikah registration is the recording of a marriage through a Nikah Registrar licensed by the Union Council, which produces the nikahnama.
What does Nikah registration mean in plain words?
Every marriage under Muslim law must be registered. If the nikah is not solemnised by the Nikah Registrar, the person who solemnised it must report it to him; failing to do so is punishable with up to three months' imprisonment or a fine. Anyone can pay the fee to inspect the record or get a copy of an entry.
