Magistrate Courts (Islamabad)

مجسٹریٹ عدالتیں (اسلام آباد)

Judicial magistrates (first, second and third class, with progressively lower sentencing powers) try less serious offences, and a magistrate can authorise a police-arrested person's detention while investigation continues. A conviction by a magistrate is appealed to the Court of Session; if a specially empowered magistrate imposes more than four years' imprisonment, the appeal goes to the High Court.
