A written statement is the defendant's formal reply, filed in writing, to the plaint in a civil suit.
What does Written statement mean in plain words?
After being summoned, the defendant files it to admit or deny each claim and to give his own version. If he does not file it within the time allowed, the court may decide the case against him.
