Criminal
Acquittal is a court's finding or order that an accused person is not guilty, ending the case in his favour.
What does Acquittal mean in plain words?
The court records an order of acquittal when it finds the accused not guilty. A composition of an offence under section 345 also has the effect of an acquittal. An acquittal is not always final: the provincial government can direct an appeal, and a complainant can seek special leave to appeal in a complaint case.
When will I hear Acquittal?
The trial court acquitted all the accused because the witnesses contradicted each other.
Which law covers Acquittal?
Sections 245, 265H, 345(6) and 417, Code of Criminal Procedure 1898
